Sausage and Sauerkraut Pit-za

My friend turned me on to making mini pizzas out of pita. Now I can't get enough, and I'm always looking for new creations and combinations to try. This is my pit-za tribute to Oktoberfest with sausage and sauerkraut. The blend of sauerkraut and the sweetness of the tomatoes in the pizza sauce are delicious. Give it a try!

Ingredients

  • 1 pita
  • Olive oil
  • TOPPINGS
  • 3 tbsp(s) pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup(s) havarti cheese, shredded
  • 1/3 cup(s) sauerkraut
  • Small amount of green pepper, thinly sliced
  • 6-8 slice(s) sausage

Instructions

Place a cookie sheet in oven and heat to 400 degrees.

Drizzle some olive oil on one side of pita bread and carefully place on hot cookie sheet. Leave in oven about 3 minutes to crisp a bit.

Remove pita bread and add toppings in order. Place in oven for approximately 8 minutes or until cheese looks melted and pita bread is slightly browned.
