Sweet Potato Dog Cookies

I am always on the hunt for a simple dog cookie that uses various flavors. I stumbled upon this one and decided to give it a try. It's hard to resist any recipe that uses 4 ingredients. My dogs begged for more when it was time to taste test!

  • Prep Time: 20 mins
  • Cook Time: 35 minutes mins
  • Cooking Temp: 350
  • Servings: 2-3 dozen

  • 1 medium sweet potato or yam, cooked and cooled
  • 2 + 1/4 cup(s) Flour (1 cup all-purpose and 1 cup wheat)
  • 1/4 cup(s) applesauce
  • 2 large eggs

Set oven to 350 degrees and prepare two cookie sheets lined with parchment paper.

Pierce the sweet potato or yam several times and place in microwave on high for 5 min. You may want to check it at 4 min, then every minute after until you can easily run a knife or long toothpick in it. Allow to cool, then peel.

Add sweet potato, applesauce and eggs to a mixing bowl. Mix on low and add flour one cup at a time. Add extra flour as you need to until dough is not sticky and can be rolled out.

Using a rolling pin, roll out to 1/2" thickness and use any cookie cutter you prefer. Place all on cookie sheets and in your 350-degree oven for 35 minutes. Shut the oven off and leave in for an hour to get biscuit hard. If you pull them out at 35-40 min. they will have a softer consistency.

Let your pup enjoy!
